Cupping

What is it?

Cupping is a therapy that consists of putting a special kind of cup on your skin that creates a suction effect. This vacuum effect increases blood flow to that specific area which increases circulation and stimulates healing. It has been used to help with pain, reduce inflammation, induce relaxation and for general well-being.

What are some benefits?

Some great benefits one can receive from cupping are: relief from back and neck pain, loosen stiff muscles, helps relieve anxiety, fatigue, migraines, cellulite and rheumatism.

How long are the sessions?

On average the sessions take about 45 minutes.

What should I expect during the treatment?

When the cups are initially applied you may feel a bit of discomfort. That will ease in a matter of seconds as the body adjusts. This also depends on the area that is being treated and if there has been trauma or acute pain prior to treatment. Certain parts of the body can also be more tender than others.

Will I have marks from the treatment?

When the cups are taken off there may be circle-like discolouration ranging from nothing at all to dark purple. The darker the colour the more stress or trauma in the past that area has had. These areas are recommended to be treated until there no longer is colour remaining after a session.

How often should I receive treatments?

When focusing on a specific area and there is a strong amount of colour it is recommended to wait at least a week before returning for further treatment.

It is possible to treat other areas though during that waiting time.

I’ve had problems with weight especially after my baby, along with post-partum. With support from Lesley’s treatments I feel in control of my life again. I’m down to a healthy weight and I’m enjoying life with my little girl.

My sister told me about Arden Wellness and we now go together regularly for treatments. Lesley has a beautiful country clinic and it’s so peaceful there.
